Love Lies Bruising began as a calendar project for the Berlin Bruisers, a queer and trans-inclusive rugby club. Inspired by the concept of the Firefighter Calendar, the idea was to collaboratively develop our own artistic tribute. The analog work focuses on a queer perspective that plays with sapphic motifs as well as with the performance of gender. While I approached the project with an artistic vision, collaborative work on equal footing was important to me: not only as a photographer, but also as part of the FLINTA* team.
